Guide: Buying Radiators on the Internet

The internet is a fantastic place to buy radiators. There is so much choice, that you are almost guaranteed to find the perfect radiator for your needs and budget. However, there are a few things that you have to do in order to make sure that you buy radiators that are safe and adequate. Below, we have created a step-by-step guide to help you to do this.

1.    Work Out Exactly Which Type of Radiators You Need. The first thing that you will need to do when buying radiators online is establish exactly which type of radiator your property requires. To do this, you need to consider the following three areas:

a.    Fuel Source: how do you heat your radiators? If you have central heating, then you will need to buy centrally heated units (unless you want standalone units for some reason, but you can combine the two). If you do not have central heating then you will need a standalone unit, such as an Economy 7 heater.

b.    Btu Rating: Btu stands for ‘British Thermal Units’. We use this measurement to work out how much heat the radiator will be able to produce. You need to match the radiator to the required Btu for the room. There are online calculators to help you do this. All you need to do is work out the size of the room – width, height, and length. You enter this into the calculator; answer a few questions, such as ‘how warm do you like the room? Hot, medium, or cool?’. It will then return a Btu measurement. You can then buy a radiator to match this, or you can buy multiple radiators that togetherequal the Btu.

c.    Size: this ties in very closely to the Btu rating, but as mentioned above, you can spread this across a number of different radiators. Therefore, you need to decide how big you want the radiators to be. This will depend on your tastes and on the size of the room.

2.    Think about Whether You Want a Designer Radiator or not: there are many different options with regards to style. When buying radiators online you have a choice between traditional units and designer units. The designer radiators look amazing and can double as art fixtures.

3.    Consider whether you’relooking for Cheap Radiators or Quality Radiators: you can find some real bargains online, buy often, the cheap radiators are of a low quality. This means that they will not last as long and that they might not perform as efficiency as you might wish. It’s better to spend more now, to avoid costs in the future.

4.    Read the Reviews: once you’ve found your radiator/s, then check out the online reviews. See how other people rate the units. This can provide you with invaluable advice about the quality and efficiency of the radiator.

5.    Make Sure the Retailer Offers a Returns Policy: you must only buy with retailers that allow you to return the unit if needed.

6.    Make Sure the Radiators are Under Guarantee/Warrantee: finally, make sure that the radiators come with a guarantee or warrantee. Typically, these are between 5 and 10 years in length.
